JoCo Cruise is more than a cruise. It’s a community that fosters fun and friendships both on the high seas and on land! In support of that vibe, and to ensure that first-time cruisers have the best introduction to our beloved Nerd Boat a squad of returning cruisers offer up their time! For those amazing monkeys doing this is a way to pay back to the community some of the delight and support they have gotten. Helping makes some folks happy, and we’re immensely grateful for it. If you aren’t one of those people, don’t stress about it! This is your cruise! Make it the cruise you want!
JoCo Cruise has so many activities and ways to enjoy yourself. (Maybe too many!) For that reason, Helper opportunities are only open to returning cruisers who have already had a chance to explore the event and understand how they like to enjoy themselves. If it’s your first year, the best way that YOU can help is by having the best time you can and meeting new people. Being a welcoming, kind person makes everyone’s cruise better!
Helper Monkeys help make the JoCo Cruise community what it is, and it wouldn’t be the same without you. Because of their high visibility, Helper Monkeys should take extra care to read, understand, respect, and abide by the JoCo Cruise Code of Conduct. Due to the sensitive nature of any Code of Conduct reports or issues, Helper Monkeys must immediately escalate any Code of Conduct issues that are reported to them, and work hard to be helpful but not personally engage or attempt to personally resolve any Code of Conduct issues. JoCo Cruise has official positions dedicated to handling Code of Conduct reports.
That said, the Helper Monkey position does have its limits. Helper Monkeys must abide by the Code of Conduct at all times.
Helper Monkeys do not seek special access to performers and/or guests of the cruise.
Helper Monkeys offer to give of their time, which may result in them not being able to watch or participate in events (official or unofficial) as a regular attendee.
There is no guarantee that by offering to be a Helper Monkey you will actually be chosen to be a Helper Monkey. Having more people than we need to help us out is a wonderful problem to have, though.
